Community Service Projects

Helping Flood Victims

Following the tragic floods of January 2011 in Sri Lanka, the youth group began to fundraise to provide basic supplies to the victims.

Shoe Drive

In this world there are many people with an inadequate amount of shoes , and some people who don't even have any shoes at all. What we do is we work with Soles4Souls. We collect gently used/new shoes. After we have collected as much as we can we send the shoes to the headquarters. There the people at Souls4Soles distribute them to the people who are need of this basic necessity.

Rhode Island Food Bank 2010

During the summer Youth SLANE visited the Rhode Island Food Bank. This is an ongoing partnership that Youth SLANE has, and we are hoping that it will continue! Youth SLANE sorted many food items that were distributed to underprivileged families in the community.

Pennies and dimes for better times

Pennies and Dimes for Better Times was created to help children in need living in Sri Lanka. Many impoverished Sri Lankan children are often neglected and not able to live to their full potential. Pennies and Dimes for Better Times does various projects depending on the situation in Sri Lanka to aid these children through troubled times. Whether it was surviving a horrid tsunami or living through a terrible civil war, these children have been through a lot. Pennies and Dimes for Better Times was designed to help them.
